An unexpected day off...
Today was a somewhat unexpected day off, which is to say I only answered a few e-mails, formatted three PDFs, and read two chapters of a manuscript for work. The rest of the day was actually spent running errands, and getting a few new comic books at the Comic Store (yes, for those who aren't local, the area comic store is in fact called "The Comic Store"). Christopher spent his afternoon gardening, while I spent part of mine at Amsterdam Coffee Co. (the nearby coffeehouse) web surfing and reading comics over an iced latte.
Before dinner my parents called to tell me my birthday gifts finally showed up from Amazon.com. Yay, delayed birthday gifts! In particular, I got British sci-fi DVDs: the first series of the new Doctor Who (which I'm loving) and the first set of The Tomorrow People, a cheesy British sci-fi show I enjoyed as a kid. Christopher and I watched (re-watched, in my case) the first two Doctor Who episodes tonight over milk and cookies (we were indulgent, but they were so yummy!).
I also got a German edition of my Shadowrun novel Poison Agendas (or "Gift Mischer, ein roman von Stephen Kenson") in the mail today. Nice cover, but of course, I can't read German, so I have no idea how the translation is. Still weird seeing a book with my name on it in a language I can't read.
All in all, a pretty casual day. Hoping for more of the same tomorrow.
