Address Change

Just e-mail address, fortunately.

The short version: my preferred personal e-mail has changed to stevekenson@me.com. Please update your address books accordingly. My work e-mail remains the same (steve@greenronin.com).

The long version: Our Internet provider is transitioning from Verizon to Fairpoint Communications thus, as of yesterday, all former Verizon e-mails in our area have automatically been changed over to “myfairpoint.net” addresses (a dumb domain name, too; one presumes just “fairpoint.net” is company-only...). So I do have an e-mail at stevekenson@myfairpoint.net and my own @verizon.net e-mail is being redirected to it for the next several months.

However, the Verizon/Fairpoint e-mail is a POP account, whereas my MobileMe account with Apple is IMAP, more compatible with my Mac(s) and my iPhone, and more portable, since it doesn’t depend on the nature of my ISP. So to goal is to transition over to it for my personal and home e-mail needs. In addition to notifying people (like this) it also means updating countless website profiles as they come up, mainly online stores. Fortunately, I can do so as needed and it may even send some spam off to my increasingly less used Fairpoint account.

You know, it took me three times as long to read and digest this post because I kept seeing Fairpoint as Farpoint. As in "Station". And I was wondering why you didn't want a Farpoint Station email address. Because OMG COOL. Then I was sad because I was an illiterate geek living in my own Star Trek world. *sigh*

You have to admire the simplicity of "me-dot-com".
