It was cute — clever CGI-candy. I was never a big fan of the original cartoons (or toys) but even I gotta say, having the original voice actor for Optimus Prime totally made it for me. Plus I got to watch Christopher turn all Transformers-geek, which is über-cute. All-in-all, a fun evening’s entertainment.

I was never a big fan either but I've seen it twice and enjoyed it both times. I agree about the voice for Optimus Prime, that was very cool!

Yeah Peter Cullen's voice really sucks you in. I liked the fact that it was its own continuity. Though I kind of snickered when it occurred to me that Megatron (voiced by Hugo Weaving aka Agent Smith) was defeated by the Allspark (which is basically the Matrix from the comic series). Yes my brain makes connections over several degrees of separation.

I enjoyed the series as a kid but preferred early anime with their giant robots than the transformers.

However, watching my partner totally geek out made it more enjoyable for me too. He got his old toys and while he didn't "play" with them, he "artfully posed them with sound effects."

Yep, very cute.
