Now, my Mom isn't Italian (unlike Christopher's Mom). In fact, as Christopher will attest, my family is as WASPy and white-bread as they come. Still, my Mom knows how to cook, let me tell you...

One of the things my Mom does every year is make Christmas cookies as gifts. When I say she makes Christmas cookies, I mean she makes anywhere from 20-30 kinds (around 25 this year), then makes up in the area of a couple dozen tins to give out. It's like a cottage industry. The last few years she's also made carmel popcorn mixed with candy and nuts. Naturally, she reserves some for Christmas day. So we had some of both of those, for starters.

Then came the smoked cheese spread and the pizza dip (cream cheese/sour cream with herbs, pizza sauce, chopped pepperoni, topped with melted cheese) with chips and crackers. The blueberry and sour cream coffee cake with coffee (or hot chocolate, Christopher went with the chocolate).

Once we'd opened gifts, there was dinner; roast turkey with all the fixings: dressing, potatoes, squash, cranberries, and green beans.

For dessert: molten chocolate cake served hot with ice cream and apple pie. Nobody even had pie, although I got sent home with some.

So once again, I am so full. Our downstairs looks like a gift-bomb exploded there. Our fridge is full of leftovers, and I'm gonna make it an early night cuz next week, it's back to the gym for me! But right now, some rest as I drift into a food-coma.

Hope everyone else had a safe and happy holiday weekend, and my best wishes for a Happy New Year!
