Life Underwater

stevekensonWell not literally underwater, thank gods, but underneath a watery grey sky, the air heavy with moisture, the ground saturated, the rivers swollen. It's that sort of energy-sapping humidity and dampness that just makes you want to curl up and sleep in hopes of waking to clear and sunny weather. Still, we've been quite fortunate in that we have had no water in our basement (knocks wood) or any other serious problems, compared to people who have lost possessions, homes, or businesses to flooding, that's no small thing.
Nature, of course, blithely luxuriates in the wetness, ignorant of our grumbling and suffering. Everything green is very green, from grasses to leaves, and I suspect once they start getting more sunlight, the plants are going to grow riot. Doesn't look like the edible herb plants Christopher got last year are coming back save for the chives, but the rest of his garden grows well, and is in fact in need of some pruning, once we have a clear day for it.
I just wait for the fair weather so I can ride my bike again; the few paltry days I've gotten have been little more than a tease and I'm looking forward to getting out on the road again a bit. But for now, it's damp, I'm tired, and I've got a few more things to do before I call it a day.
