Okay, first off, George Takei freakin’ rocks! I got a total Planetary vibe off of his brief talk about having “allies with power” and alluding to the “old days.” I’m looking forward to them fleshing out the story of the previous generation. The “ascend” comment (”I’ve been waiting for a Nakamura to ascend”) was also tantalizing.

The whole “I’m going to teach you kendo in like a couple hours” thing was a bit weak, but the sequence was so cool I was able to overlook it. I’d hoped for a nod to some sort of unconscious time-warping by Hiro, where he walks out of the room after spending a long time training with his father, to discover virtually no time has passed outside. Anyhow...

I’m starting to think Nathan ends up a bad guy for Season 2, trying to do the right thing, but sinking deeper into doing bad things for what he believes are all the right reasons. Be nice if he pulls a reversal in the season finale, but who knows?

And Candice, holy Gruenwald’s Ghost, she’s Moonglow! (If you know what I’m talking about without clicking on the link ... ha! geek!)

Still looking for a Peter/Syler throwdown. They’ve been building to it for a while, so here’s hoping it doesn’t disappoint.

I've also seen speculation that George Takei's superpower is the 'training montage guy' - sort of like a super-mentor who helps you fulfill your potential. Which might fit in interestingly with the story about Hiro's ancestor being trained by a dragon ...

Actualy I get the impression that the time that passed in that room where Sulu shared his Jedi skillz with his son was wayyyyyy longer than the time that passed outside the room. Methinks dad has similiar powers to his son.

That look on Hiro's face when his dad went all kata on him and ended up with the sword against his neck that first time... that smile of joy... that was just pure joy to see. What a great reaction. Masi's got such a great read on his character.

Yeah, absolutely. Masi's has the "cute geek" thing down. Hiro's expression spoke volumes of "Wow, my Dad is so cool!" The same with Takei's confident, "Oh, a few things."
