The short review: a brilliant and throughly enjoyable modern fairy-tale. Go see it.

We went to see it last night, and I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Now I just need to borrow the book from a friend.

In total agreement

Just went to see the film this afternoon and loved it. I didn't know it was a Neil Gaiman story so that was a terrific surprise!
I thought the film was fantastic... loved Michelle Pfeiffer's character a great deal and the amount of CGI was perfect, very believable.

I went last night and I totally agree. Though I read the book before I think that the movie is one of those that stands alone. The book was much more sad. I also liked pfeiffer.

Yeah, she was brilliant as Lamia, deliciously over-the-top.

Of course, some don't agree: see Laurie Cabot rail against Pfeiffer in Stardust here. (http://www.cabotwitchcraft.com/pages.asp?ID=76)
