Thanks! That was interesting. The whole delegate/electoral college system is completely archaic and illogical in this day and age. It just seems to still be in place for politicians to hold on to either their own power, or to decide for themselves who gets that power. It all should be strictly popular vote by now!

Anyway, for the primaries, the parties can do whatever they want, which is how you get all sorts of wacky things like caucuses, etc. I'm a bit surprised that the Democrat party still uses a delegate system, given how many people in the party don't care for the electoral college system for the national elections.
