Well, this entry is mostly about not having done a LJ entry in a while, since there isn't a great deal to report.

Really slacking at the gym the last week or two; we've got a new workout routine and I just can't seem to get into it. I think at least part of it is my "it's winter and I want to curl up and hibernate, not expend energy" mood. I have a harder time working out in the winter months than when it's warm out.

I've still got mucho holiday shopping to do. Funny thing is, I don't have a huge list of people I'm shopping for, which is probably a good thing, since it's been a rather lean year and there are winter expenses (oil not the least of them) to account for. Still, I've got some more stuff to get (or figure out before I get it).

Work is work. Freedom City is out in PDF and at print. I'm working to get True20 off to editing so I can get back to the final draft of Mastermind's Manual and then Golden Age for M&M. I've got a few ideas—both game and fiction-wise—but I just haven't had the energy or time lately to do anything more than idly think about them. It's harder trying to write something "on the side" when you write and edit all day for a living; when it's all said and done, the last thing you feel like doing is writing more.

I'm feeling like I need to find time to watch more films or read more books just for fun, not work or research or whatever. I had a great time a few weeks ago watching Woman On Top with Adam just because it was a movie I wouldn't have picked on my own and it was outside my usual viewing range, but it was a fun film nonetheless. Maybe I should look into Netflix or something... anyone have any experience with it?

That's pretty much it. I've got a ton of stuff to do at home today (laundry, dishes, cleaning up the kitchen, food shopping), plus maybe getting a little work done. We're having dinner with friends tonight, and tomorrow is planning for our Yule celebration next week.

That's my geek life.

Good freakin' idea. I used to patronize the local library quite a bit, too. (Actually, many, many moons ago, I used to work there.) Well past time I went back to "check things out," both figuratively and literally.

Check things out?

You were a bathroom betty, weren't you?

I love my netflix, because I can get all of my TV series DVD's that the movie rental places don't really carry, and I get the obscure foreign and gay films that I can't get at the rental places either.

My only problem with netflix is that When I first started, the movies turned around in a day. It got in on monday, watched it, dropped in the mail on tuesday, they had it on wednesday, I had my new one on thursday. But for the past couple months it's slowed down dramatically. Now it's taking a week or more turnaround. I'm hoping it's just the holiday glut of mail slowing things down, but if it's still like this in January, I'm probably going to lower the number of disks they send me and start renting the more common stuff from the video store.

If you go over a certain number of rentals per month, they throttle you.
