Tour Season: Day 2
Oct. 7th, 2006 08:59 amThe good thing about being really freakin' tired when you finally get to your hotel after a trans-continental flight is that you don't have any problems falling asleep; I awoke briefly around 4:00 AM but had no problems at all rolling over and falling back to sleep to wake at an hour better suited to the Pacific time zone and I think I've already shaken off the worst of the jet-lag. Being something of a late-riser and night-owl back on the East Coast probably helps, too.
The flight itself was pretty decent. JetBlue does provide a touch more leg-room in their planes and the 36 channels of TV were welcome; since for some reason I find it difficult to read on planes for extended amounts of time. I napped and watched A Few Good Men on Bravo or something, along with catching up on the most recent episode of Heroes which I only saw about half of before I left. For a network show, it has surprising potential. I'll be interested to see where it goes.
JB also certainly isn't stingy with their snacks, offering a decent variety and encouraging you to take what you want rather than making you feel like they're only giving you something because of FAA requirements. I'd definitely fly JB again, but the fact that they only fly out of Boston and not Manchester is kind of limiting. Thank gods they at least don't seem saddled with the sort of "enforced corporate happiness" of Southwest; what witty banter there was (and it was mercifully limited) was natural rather than forced.
iamnikchick picked me up at SeaTac and whisked me off to Acme Bowl where the Green Ronin crew engaged in bowling, catching up, and shop-talk accompanied by bad '80s music videos on the big screens. I did more of the shop-talk than bowling since bowling is a bit too close to a sport for my tastes, plus I hardly ever get to just sit and talk shop (i.e., geek out) with my co-workers.
Finally, we wound down, Nicole dropped us off at the hotel, and we called it a night. The summit begins today.
