Don’t know why, but I always feel more like cleaning — both figuratively and literally — in the Fall rather than the Spring. True Fall weather gets me in a mind to clear out the basement, put things away, throw away the stuff cluttering up my life, and simplify in general. Maybe it’s a hibernation or preparing the cave for winter instinct or some pagan harvest thing. Whatever the case, I’ve spent a decent part of the day doing it.

Putting my bike away in the basement made me wish I’d used it more this summer, but things went by so fast, as they always do. Next year, for sure! (Maybe I’ll check back on this entry next Fall to see how I did, probably not, though.)

I’m pondering a serious purge of my books — RPG books especially. It’s just getting ridiculous and a good 80+% of the stuff I’ve got will never see any sort of use if it stays here. Better it should find its way somehow to someone who’ll use and appreciate it. That goes doubly true of the stuff I’ll probably never even read.

Tonight is planning our Samhain celebration (as opposed to Christopher’s public ritual in Cambridge or the one with our men’s group on Monday): carving pumpkins and going over the outline and such. We also have to pick up laundry from my parents’ (who have been kind enough to fill-in while we’re washer- and dryer-less).
