So... very... full...
Dec. 24th, 2005 08:14 pmChristmas Eve with the in-laws is always... well, anyone else come from an Italian family? It's abundanza!
Rosalie (Christopher's Mom) laid out cheese and crackers (three kinds of cheese), pepperoni, mixed pickles, mixed nuts, and olives (green and black) for appetisers, along with a little sparkling Italian rosé and mulled apple/raspberry cider.
Then the actual meal: mixed green salad and fresh bread, followed by lasagne, followed by beef roast and mashed potatoes.
For dessert? Coffee, brownies, cannollis (vanilla and chocolate), and tiramisu ice cream, along with assorted nuts and candies.
When I walked into the kitchen I foolishly asked, "Rosalie, are we expecting anyone else?"
"No, sweetie, just the four of us," she answered.
Dear gods, I am so full. Family, good food, good company, and plenty of laughs. Hope everyone is having a happy holiday weekend.
