Hope and Handfasting
Sep. 11th, 2005 09:36 amAlthough today is a date "that will live in infamy" as they say, I think it's important to recall that many, many other things happened on this day, many of them worth celebrating.
In particular, my friends Ginella and Scott Cann were married on this date in 1999. The attack on New York and Washington occurred on their anniversary. Today they're renewing their vows in a pagan handfasting ceremony. Christopher is conducting it as high priest, while I'm reading a story I first told during a blessing circle we conducted the night before their wedding six years ago. It will be a great gathering of friends to celebrate the love of two very dear people.
So don't forget that today, and everyday, is about more than just one thing.
