[Traveller] The Journey Begins...
Feb. 2nd, 2006 09:17 amSo, last night's first Traveller adventure went well. I ultimately ended up being unable to choose between the various incarnations of Traveller (especially once I started going over their errata and such) and came up with my own. I based it off a variant of Fudge I've been playing around with for a while, one that's largely diceless (the GM occasionally rolls dice, but the players never need to). It has worked pretty well thus far: character creation was quick and easy and the system seems to do what I want. It'll definitely take some more play to give it a good workout and iron out any potential kinks but, so far, so good.
I'm running the adventure Long Way Home, published by Imperium Games for T4 (and the Milieu 0 setting). Essentially, the characters are members of a survey team on the scout ship Dawnstar which is thrown far off course by an encounter with a mysterious phenomenon in jumpspace, crashing on a distant plant some 120 parsecs from where they started, far enough to take them over three years to get back home! In the first adventure, the crew has just managed to effect basic repairs to their ship, learn their position, and track down a mysterious neutrino source coming from beneath a primitive alien village. With some help for the telepathic medic on the team, they've made peaceful contact with the aliens, but the village elders have informed them that there is a test they must pass if they wish to learn the secrets of the village's sacred relics...
