Wednesday is gaming night for me, getting together with my gaming groups (some of whom I've known since high school) to play various RPGs. This week I'm Gamemaster and we're playing Dungeons & Dragons (old school, baby!). I'm running the adventures set in Eberron, Wizards of the Coast's new D&D campaign setting. Thus far, it's been a lot of fun.

Wednesday is also comic book day—when I get the week's new comics at the comic store. I haven't been going every week lately, because I haven't been buying as many comics as I used to, and some week's it isn't worth the trip. Still, I'll probably go today just to see what's new, and to poke around the new RPG stuff (gotta keep up on the "state of the art"!).

Of course, before I do any of that stuff, I've got work to do on Freedom City and a few other things, and I want to hit the gym this morning, now that I've gotten morning e-mail and online posts out of the way. It's a nice day out, so I think I'll take my bike while there are still nice days for riding.

That's pretty much it. Just another day in My Geek Life.

From early 1982 until late 1985 I used to play D&D with a group of friends in Chillicothe, OH. We were zany, loved Monty Python, loved Weird Al and Robin Williams, listened to Holst The Planets and Orff's Carmina Burana and the soundtrack to Conan the Barabarian. We did far more cutting up than we ever did exploring the mazes of paper and dice and lead figurines. It was a great time. I understand my hardcover 1st edition gaming books are all collector's items now. Go figure.
