We've got a fairly small kitchen in our place and, on one side of the counter, the toaster, coffeepot, and electric kettle are lined up in front of one outlet. For a long while, it was necessary to leave one of them unplugged at any given time in order to use the other two, and it was a pain to unplug the coffeepot, as it has a clock that needs to be reset whenver the power goes out (but it was still necessary if you wanted to use the toaster and kettle at the same time). It was a hassle, but I never quite remembered to do anything about it except when I was standing in the kitchen in my sweatpants and a T-shirt in the morning, wrestling with the plugs.

Yesterday, I finally remembered and picked up a plug-splitter while I was at Shaw's, so now all three appliances are plugged in at the same time. This morning I made my coffee, Christopher's tea, and some toast all at the same time without any hassle at all.

Sometimes it's the little things that help make life better.
