Ever have one of those nagging ideas that won’t go away?

For me this morning it’s a concept for a mash-up of the Star Wars Saga Edition of the d20 system, the overall metaphysical framework for Earthdawn, and the Eberron setting with the addition of Earthdawn style characters and a Scourge wherein the Earthdawn horrors are combined with the Lords of Madness from Xoriat (the Scourge being when Xoriat becomes coterminous with Eberron) and their rise ended to Last War over a century ago (nothing like an apocalypse to put an end to petty hostilities). I keep working out bits and pieces of game system and setting design in my head.

Even worse is that right in line behind it is a mash-up of the SW Saga stuff with Traveller, my Psychic’s Handbook stuff (for a psionics system) and the Thousand Suns meta-setting by [livejournal.com profile] maliszew for full-fledged space-opera goodness.

Naturally, neither of those things are what I really need to focus on today... ::sigh::

You are such a Gemini. ;)

Seriously, I'm glad I'm not the only person who does this. I've got a mash-up of Hunter: the Reckoning, Blade Runner and The Shield rolling around in my head, and it refuses to go away.

Sweet Zombie Jebus, that's a cool idea.

Out of curiosity, what parts of SW Sage appeal to you? I haven't read the entire book in depth as yet, and my friends would not be keen on shifting our long running RCR games to the new rules. Maybe I need to check the True20 forums again to see what people there like about it. I'm pretty sure that handling Force Powers like a hand of cards is not it though.

Primarily the Defense/Save combination, the simpler skill system (although I'd do an "Athletics" skill in place of Climb, Jump, and Swim), the condition track, and the talent trees.

Hmm... I could see it now. Very grainy and hard to make out...

I'm currently rewriting Saga for a set of house rules to run a pulp masked men game (think the Shadow meets Crimson Skies) set in a 1930s U.S. that still uses the Articles of Confederation as a basis for federal government

So yeah, I have those ideas.

The only reply can I make to this is: "Write faster, dammit!" :)

I have plenty of weird mash-up ideas too. Heck, Thousand Suns itself is a weird mash-up of sorts, an attempt to create the ultimate space opera Frankenstein setting from the corpses of all the SF books and games I've loved in the past.

I hear ya brotha. I'm supposed to be finishing up a project for you and all I've got in my head is Exalted crap. Why did going to see Transformers make me want to play Exalted?

So is the new Star Wars stuff good?
