Oh. My. Gods. This episode rocked!

(Yes, I’ve already seen the rest of the season ... I jumped ahead to “The Sound of Drums” and “Last of the Time Lords” before going to Origins and then went back, okay? It’s like geek time-travel...)

Anyhow... the writing and structure of the episode were brilliant, the tension chilling, and the denoument brilliantly simple. The whole thing reminded me of a Harlan Ellison or Ray Bradbury story: real old-school sci-fi where the lines between SF, fantasy, and horror blur. Tennant’s performance managed to be both understated and over-the-top at the same time. All around, the best episode of the season (yes, even better than “The Shakespeare Code”).

By comparison, the season finale, while enjoyable, is a bit of a letdown, so I’m kind of glad I held off on watching this one until later.

I must agree. I wasn't a huge fan of "Love and Monsters" since I think it played out the whole "outsider's view" thing too quickly and became rather dull. "Blink," on the other hand, was perfectly paced, tense, and made the Doctor enough of a presence to maintain a thread of continuity.

I'm going to miss Martha in the first half of Series 4. Though the thought of her in Torchwood is kind of cool, as long as she doesn't turn into a big ho like everyone else. ;)

Will be interesting to see her and Donna as co-companions though
