I'm up before 6:00 AM because my body is still adjusting to the jet-lag, so I figure I'll do a little blogging before going back to bed for just a bit longer, if I can.
The trip home was long: seven and a half hours from London to Newark, then a two-hour layover in Newark, followed by a one-hour delay in Newark, then fifteen minutes waiting on the tarmac in Newark, an hour flight home, and a nearly one-hour drive from Boston to Merrimack. All told, some twelve hours or so of traveling (not counting the train trip from Croydon to Gatwick Airport in the first place).
It's good to be home: to sleep in our bed, be around familiar things, and such. We've almost no food in the house, so I'll need to go shopping this morning. Then it's catching up on e-mails, laundry, and getting right back into work for the week.
Copies of my Shadowrun novel Born to Run showed up while we were gone. It looks good and, more importantly, will be available for my signing planned for two weeks from now.
Speaking of signings, did I mention that they sold out of Christopher's books at Witchfest? Folks had to have him autograph pieces of paper or autograph books, since there were no more books to be had. There was also the great moment when we were having our morning coffee at the corner Starbucks when this fellow walked in and recognized Christopher and was clearly starstruck, bubbling over with praise for his work. I think it made Christopher's day, given the somewhat mixed reception he got in England last year. After his experience at Witchfest, I'm sure Christopher would have no reservations about going back, which I certainly couldn't have said before.
In summary: good trip, good to be home, need more sleep.
