Well, it's official, West Wing is canceled after seven seasons. Not a huge surprise, especially after the sudden death of John Spencer ("Leo McGarry"), although the article says the decision to cancel the show came before Spencer's passing. Although I'm sad to see it go, it was time; the show was getting tired and I'd rather see it exit gracefully than struggle on regardless. I'll have the DVDs, since it's one of those shows I can watch over and over again.

Surely it was coming to a natural stopping point anyway, what with the end of Bartlet's second term looming? I hope that it gets the dignity of a proper finish rather than an abrupt end.

Over here in the UK we've just had season 6 on dvd, and I must say it was the best series for a long while, the democratic leadership contest adding much needed vigour to it!

It certainly does seem like a natural stopping point, although there was speculation as to whether or not they would try to make a go of it with a new president and staff (which would really make it a whole different show, in many respects). Personally, I'm kind of glad they're not. I do hope they give it a proper send-off, but time will tell.

We're still looking to get Season 4 onward; we have the first 3 seasons and want the rest. It's a bit expensive for us right now, but soon... oh yes, soon...

What little I watched the show (I don't watch television) I liked.

I'm sorry for the fans that the show got canceled.
