Have you heard...?
Oct. 12th, 2006 11:55 pmI was on a plane yesterday, so I missed marking a particular occasion.
A favorite story of mine came from a colleague in the RPG industry, who was at a convention when a younger male gamer asked him: "Have you heard about Steve Kenson?"
Fearing some accident had befallen me or the like, he quickly asked, "No, what?"
The young man leaned in and, in a conspiratorial whisper said, "He's gay." To which my colleague responded, "What?" (being fully aware of this, as is anyone who knows me at all).
"He's gay," the young man repeated, as if he hadn't made it clear the first time, as if my friend didn't understand the import of the information being passed along.
"Dude, I grew up in the San Francisco Bay," said my colleague, by way of explaining his lack of shock. "My last girlfriend was bisexual."
"Wow, what was that like?" The suddenly interested gamer dude asked.
So, in case you haven't had a rumor-obsessed and sexually deprived con-goer to explain it to you: a belated National Coming Out Day. I'm gay.

All kidding aside, I thought that Blue Rose was innovative in the way it dealt with sexuality.
